Founded in 1881, the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) is one of the world’s longest-established organisations dedicated to the fields of Trading Standards and Consumer Protection.  After 140 years of progress, we remain immensely proud of our close association with the trading standards profession and the vital work it continues to do – promoting fair business practices, tackling rogue traders and, ultimately, protecting British consumers.

As our numbers grow, CTSI is better placed to represent the profession and influence change – whether that’s in the way services are delivered, how legislation is developed, or how the profession is represented in government and the media.

2. National Network

CTSI Members are part of a community of passionate and like-minded professionals. While CTSI operates at a national level, we also run a thriving network of 13 Regional branches all around the UK – where members can stay informed, meet and support their fellow trading standards professionals, participate in training, or get more involved.

3. Professional Recognition

As members of an officially recognised professional membership body, full and associate CTSI Members are entitled to use the designated Post-Nominal Letters (MCTSI or ACTSI) after their name – similar to other accredited qualifications, titles and awards.

4. CTSP Status

Qualifying CTSI Members may also register as Chartered Trading Standards Practitioners (CTSP) – a nationally recognised status, which provides opportunities to promote yourself and the profession. CTSP status is a personal recognition of an individual’s professional standard by both the institute and their peers.

CTSI Corporate Affiliate Membership

Our Corporate Affiliate Membership category is specifically for businesses who support the aims, objectives and values of CTSI.  If you represent a genuinely customer focused organisation that is interested in promoting good business practices, you can apply to become a CTSI Corporate Affiliate Member to providing direct support to CTSI and the work it does. CTSI Membership Promotion

Existing CTSI Members who introduce a friend or colleague to CTSI are eligible to receive a £15 Love2Shop voucher for each individual member that joins. Similarly, existing CTSI Members that introduce a Corporate Affiliate Member are eligible to receive up to £75 Love2Shop vouchers.

Promotional Terms and Conditions

• The new member must submit a Membership Application form for approval.
• To qualify for the gift voucher, the new member must be eligible for full Member, Associate, Affiliate or Corporate Affiliate Also, the new member must retain their membership for a minimum of 12 months and must not previously have been a member in the past year.
• Only the introducer is eligible for the voucher, which is non-transferable. No cash alternative will be offered for individual memberships, a donation to a Branch can be made in lieu of vouchers for Corporate Affiliate Members.
